I have been in correspondence with the Under-Secretary of State, Colonial Office, London, S.W. with regard to whether I am liable for service in the Army under the Military Service Act, 1916, No. 2, and as to whether you are willing to offer me re- employment if I am found physically fit.
I am glad to be informed that you are willing to offer
me re-employment.
The Under-Secretary of State now informs me that the Army Council desire to have my services, The history of my connection with the Army is briefly as follows:- On 13th February 1903, I entered the Royal Garrison Artillery as a Trumpeter, enlist-
ing in Edinburgh. I was transferred to India and remained there for six years, returned home and soldiered at home, then went to China for five years. I was transferred to the Reserve in China and became a Prison Warder in Victoria Jail, Hong Kong, where I
remained for eighteen months.

you were to grant me an allowance from the Colonial Funds during my period in the Army of £10. 5/- per month.
